Impact
Manufacturing has an impact on the local environment, due to factory pollution and waste. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), almost 50 cities in China have air with a particulate pollution level that is 7 times higher than the safety rating. Although this isn't Nike's fault entirerly, every company must do its part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In fact, Nike has made efforts to “go green” and is devoted to minimizing environmental damage. Recently, Nike has made it their goal to improve upon manufacturing and has developed numerous resources to assist manufacturers in making their products in the most environmentally friendly manner. Nike provides outlined data and information on their sustainability website about manufacturing raw materials and ways to turn them into the products we use everyday. Nike is determined to have a transparent supply chain, so no information is hidden.
